I've always been a fan of Tassie rain forests and now have just moved to the south west of WA in Bridgetown so plenty of greenery to explore here. I found an amazing collection of fungi last week. Many red ones and some bigger than dinner plates, they were amazing. Being on a pension I wont be able to 'attend' you classes but look forward to keeping track of your art. I wanted to send you a photo of mine of an over 100 yr old barn, sadly the owner died and his son had a son and ripped it down...no sense of history at all....I always like to draw from my own photos but am not a lover pf tracing paper...THAT I think is cheating...its an ongoing debate for sure. Other than not really being able to see the lines you were drawing it was a very constructive lesson Murray thanks so much. Now Im going ot see if you have one on perspective as that is something I can never get my head around. It all makes sense when I watch someone explain it but when I go to put it to use I cant remember the rules arrgghhh....

What the fuck, first try holding the pencil lightly and it's literally the straightest line I've drawn in my life!

I can’t draw a straight line still
I have noticed that you draw lines AWAY from your body. Is this also to do with utilising your arm when drawing?
Good observation, yes that is my preference. I find that is it an easier move to make with less resistance. I find myself pressing slightly harder when I bring my arm towards me.

im a new tattoo learner and the first practice is to draw straight lines on paper. This video helps me really much and thanks, many tips are useful especially the relaxing fingers and speed.

wow this was very helpful, I notice a big difference just by changing the grip, my only worry is the cramping by holding it in long periods
Get a cover for your pencil to make it wider so your fingers don’t cramp up as much
